Posting guidelines

v1.06 September 2026

§1. Pause before posting

Take a beat before tapping share. Read the caption back to yourself and ask whether it still feels right an hour from now, or a year from now. Posts stick around longer than the mood they were written in.

If it's a reaction to something that just happened, sleep on it. The post will still be there in the morning, and so will the people on the other side of it.

§2. Lead with kindness

Marzigram works best when posts make the feed feel a little warmer than it was before. A few small habits go a long way:

  • Assume the person reading is having a hard day. Would the post still feel okay to land in their feed?
  • Disagree with ideas, not people. Critique the take, not the person who posted it.
  • Skip the dunk. If a comment exists only to make someone feel small, it's not worth posting.

§3. Respect privacy and consent

Photos and videos of other people deserve a quick check: have they agreed to being posted, and are they okay with the caption? This matters even more for kids, strangers in public, and anyone who didn't know the camera was on.

Don't share other people's personal information, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or anything that could be used to find or contact them, without their clear say-so.

§4. Add context

A caption doesn't have to be long, but a little context helps. Where was the photo taken? What was happening? Why is this one worth posting? A sentence or two turns a nice image into a story worth scrolling for.

Credit the people who shaped the moment. The friend who took the photo, the artist whose work inspired it, the place that hosted you. Generosity with credit makes the whole community better.

§5. Share what's yours

The best posts come from your own life. A photo you took, a moment you were in, a perspective only you have. Originals are what make the feed feel personal.

If you're sharing someone else's work, ask first when you can, and credit them clearly when you can't ask. "Reposted from u/someone" is the lightest possible way to be a good neighbour.
